Challenge
A powerful product locked behind a complex interface
Momentum Energi had the substance. A robust, data-rich platform giving property owners and managers real visibility into energy performance across their portfolios — the kind of insight that drives better decisions, lower costs, and more sustainable buildings. But substance isn't enough if the interface gets in the way. The existing product had been built by a strong engineering team with deep domain expertise. What it lacked was the UX layer that would make all of that capability accessible to the full range of people who needed to use it — including those without technical backgrounds. In a market moving rapidly toward data-driven property management, a platform that only works well for power users is a platform that leaves value on the table. Momentum needed a product that retained every ounce of its technical capability while becoming genuinely intuitive for everyone who sat down in front of it.

What we did
Product UX and UI design — built on top of an established architecture
The engagement was a close collaboration with Momentum's in-house development team. They had the technical depth. We brought the design capability. The goal was to make those two things work together seamlessly — not to rebuild from scratch, but to elevate what existed into something far more usable and visually compelling. We began by building a thorough understanding of the product's architecture and the different user types navigating it. From there, the design work focused on three interconnected problems. The first was personalisation. Different users have different jobs to do. The redesigned platform greets each user with a personalised start view — pre-configured widgets aligned to their specific role, and a custom side menu that puts the right tools within immediate reach. The platform adapts to the user rather than asking the user to adapt to it. The second was navigation. The existing menu structure reflected the complexity of the system rather than the logic of the user. We replaced it with navigation patterns that feel familiar — intuitive to anyone who uses modern apps and websites — while preserving the underlying architecture. Breadcrumbs were added throughout to give users clear orientation in a multi-layered system. The third was actionability. Data without clear paths to action is just noise. We integrated actionable links directly into the dashboard interface, compressing the distance between insight and decision. Users can move from seeing a problem to addressing it in a single step. Throughout, the visual design integrated Momentum's brand identity into the product in a way that felt cohesive and considered — strategic use of color, meticulously crafted graphs and charts, and a visual language that makes complex data feel clear rather than overwhelming.

“Most's ability to quickly understand our complex product and produce beautiful UX and UI design with exceptional attention to detail and clear implementation guidelines has left us exceptionally pleased with our partnership. We're looking forward to future collaborations. ”
